The Budding Performer
Gina knew that she wanted to perform when she was still a child. Her first exposure to musical theatre was through her mom's compilation of Julie Andrews' soundtracks. At six years old, she was already listening to Count Bassie's tunes!
As a budding performer, Gina won numerous singing contests from grade school until she finished her veterinary degree.
Even as a practising Vet, her love for music made her continue her singing career. She released an album with a Filipino band (Artstart), travelled to China, Japan, Australia, the Middle East, USA and Singapore to promote Philippine tourism.
She was offered to play parts in various other Filipino musicals and TV dramas; wrote a song for a Filipino band (Parliament Syndicate), and another for her unreleased album, which was produced by respected Filipino writer-composers in the names of Odette Quesada, Bodgie Dasig and Christine Bendebel.
London
In 1998, she flew to London to join Miss Saigon at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and understudied the parts of Kim and Gigi. Later, she successfully auditioned to join the original cast of the UK production of The King and I. There, she also performed the role Lady Thiang , alongside Jason Scott Lee (Bruce Lee) and Elaine Paige . This led to a UK tour with Stefanie Powers (Hart to Hart). Then she was cast to play the lead in a straight play called Mail Order Bride for which she also received outstanding reviews by "The Stage". Jerry Springer, the Opera followed, wherein she performed the roles of Yukiko San-Jones and Andrea.
She was recently picked for a BBC Talentboost scholarship, where she worked with Rikki Beadle-Blair, an award winning film director and script writer on a short film entitled Seven Dials produced by Diane Shorthouse Productions.
She is currently working on original songs for a CD recording and shows are currently under plans.
